How Can I Help

We understand that many of you want to assist with immediate relief and response to Nebraska flooding. Below is some guidance to help the people and communities affected.

Donations

Money is the most useful donation. Donations for relief efforts may be given through many support relief organizations, local entities or by contributing funds directly to the 4-H’ers Helping 4-H’ers Program organized by the Nebraska 4-H Foundation.

A list of Community Foundations and Relief Organizations can be found at the following links.

Use caution when donating through crowdfunding websites and social media, as scammers may be looking to take advantage of people’s sympathy. Volunteering

One rule for disaster response is that individuals and organizations should never self-deploy. Don't just show up to help. The best way to help in disaster areas is to support relief organizations that are already established in the area. Contact local organizations to see what support they need. You can also check with your county Emergency Manager to check for assignments or call the Volunteer Coordination Hotline: 402-898-6050.

You can look for other opportunities to volunteer with the Nebraska Disaster Recovery Service Corps.
