Disasters happen. And it's a good thing we focus on them.
Disasters affect the way our food is produced, how families function, and how businesses operate. We have always been responsive to the needs of Nebraskans. In Fall 2014, we increased our capacity to serve our state by focusing on disaster education for all ages. Since then, we have delivered programs, developed resources, and formed partnerships all centered on this topic.
Extension Disaster Education Network
Nebraska Extension is a member of the Extension Disaster Education Network (EDEN). EDEN is a collaborative multi-state effort by Extension Services across the country to improve the delivery of services to citizens affected by disasters. From food safety to field safety, from physical to psychological, and from government to community development, EDEN has resources Nebraska Extension can use to deliver programs across the state. The Nebraska VOAD adheres to the principles established by the National VOAD, which are are referred to as the 4C's: cooperation, communication, coordination, and collaboration.
